What exactly is a credit?
One credit pays for one standard UK SMS segment: a text of up to 160 characters, or 70 characters if it contains an emoji or certain accented characters (these switch the message to a different text encoding with a shorter limit). Every SMS we send for you costs exactly one credit: confirmations, reminders, and reminders to yourself.
The app shows a live character count while you edit your message templates and keeps every message within a single segment, so a reminder is always exactly one credit. No surprises on longer messages: they simply aren’t sent.
Credits are only deducted when a message is accepted for delivery. Failed validation costs you nothing.
Email reminders are free. Always.
Every appointment can send email reminders at no cost, on their own or alongside SMS. They use zero credits, whatever your balance.
Plenty of businesses use free email for the day-before nudge and save SMS credits for the hour-before reminder that actually gets someone out the door.

- Do credits expire?
- Paid credits never expire. The 5 free trial credits you get at sign-up expire after 30 days if unused.
- Can I cancel?
- There is nothing to cancel: TurnUpText has no subscription and no contract. If you stop using it, you simply stop topping up. Any paid credits stay on your account.
- Do I need a card to sign up?
- No. You get 5 free reminder credits when you sign up, with no card details required. You only pay when you choose to top up.
- What happens if I run out of credits?
- If an SMS reminder is due and there are not enough credits, it will not be sent. We'll flag it on your calendar and email you a top-up link. Email reminders keep going out as normal because they are free.
- Which numbers can I send to?
- UK mobile numbers only (07… numbers). We validate every number before sending, and you are never charged for a message we could not accept.
- Is there a bulk or marketing option?
- No. TurnUpText is for appointment and service reminders only; marketing messages and bulk sends are not allowed.
