Terms of service
These terms govern your use of TurnUpText. By creating an account you agree to them. They are written in plain English on purpose; if anything is unclear, ask us before you rely on it.
What TurnUpText is
TurnUpText (“we”, “us”) is an appointment reminder service for UK businesses. It lets you keep a simple appointment calendar, send SMS confirmations and reminders to your customers’ UK mobile numbers, send free email reminders, and see the delivery status of each message. SMS messages are paid for with prepaid credits; there is no subscription.
You must be at least 18 and using the service for business purposes. One account operates one business workspace.
Acceptable use: reminders only
TurnUpText exists to send appointment and service reminders and directly related service messages (confirmations, reschedules). That is the only permitted use. You must not use it to send:
- marketing, promotional, or advertising messages of any kind;
- spam, chain messages, or bulk messaging campaigns;
- adult content, scams, phishing, or other fraudulent or misleading communications;
- harassing, abusive, or threatening messages;
- anything unlawful, or messages sent to people who have not booked with you.
You are responsible for the content of the messages you configure and for having a lawful basis to contact each recipient. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section, and we may withhold sending where we reasonably suspect misuse. Credits are not refunded for messages blocked because of a breach of these terms.
Credits and payments
- SMS sending is prepaid. You buy bundles of reminder credits at the prices shown on our pricing page; one credit covers one standard UK SMS segment. Email reminders are free and use no credits.
- Credits are deducted only when a message is accepted for delivery by our SMS provider. Your balance can never go below zero, and you will never owe us money for usage: there is no subscription and no invoicing.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Credits are added to your account once payment is confirmed.
- Purchased credits do not expire. Free trial credits expire as stated at sign-up.
- Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable, except where you have rights under consumer law or other statutory rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Sending limits and service protection
To protect recipients and the integrity of the network, sending is rate-limited: there are hourly limits per business and per recipient, and duplicate-send protection is enforced on every scheduled message. If you legitimately need higher limits, contact us and we can raise them for your account.
We operate an emergency stop (“kill switch”) that pauses all sending across the platform if we detect abuse, a provider fault, or a security incident. Messages blocked by rate limits or an emergency stop are not sent and are not charged.
UK mobile numbers only
SMS messages can only be sent to valid UK mobile numbers. We validate numbers before sending and reject landlines, premium-rate numbers, short codes, and non-UK numbers. You are not charged for messages we reject at validation.
Availability and delivery
We aim to keep TurnUpText available and reminders on time, but we depend on mobile networks, SMS providers, and hosting infrastructure that we do not control. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or that any individual message will be delivered, or delivered at an exact time. Delivery status shown in the app reflects the latest information from our SMS provider.
Do not rely on TurnUpText as your only means of communicating anything critical to health, safety, or legal deadlines.
Your data and your customers' data
How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy and our data protection page. In short: for your customers’ contact details you are the data controller and we act as your processor, using the data only to provide the service.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or missed appointments, and our total liability to you arising out of the service in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for credits in that period.
Changes and ending your account
We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be notified to the email on your account before they take effect. You can delete your account from Account Settings at any time. On deletion, unused paid credits are forfeited unless consumer law says otherwise, and data is removed as described in our privacy policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you keep any protections of the law of the place where you live.
